Its always a pleasure to have the band playing here. You're by far our most successful band. We had so much positive feedback about New Years Eve night, we must have had at least a dozen or so people thanking us for a brilliant night- we didn't do anything, you did!
Thank YOU all and we hope 2009 is even more successful for you.
Best wishes
Heather and Pete
Reply - Can I thank you both for such a great night at The Village on Wednesday.
We really enjoyed playing that night, and I hope the night was a success for you as well.

"Shook Me All Night Long" is a top addition to your set list, you said you was all a bit iffy with it being unrehearsed, well I'll tell you boys I'm an AC/DC fan and it sounded pretty good to me, keep doing what you're doing, I'll be spreading the word about you all for sure.
Reply - Hey Jimmy, what a great night allowing for the weather and the colds in the band!
Thanks for the compliments, and hope to see you soon, checkout the gig list.
Yeah ... I thought the AC/DC went really well considering we were still rehearsing it. Looks like that one is in. ;-)

| Date: 09th November, 2008 | Author: Jimmy B. | Subject: Welcome to this Four Man Show!! | Message: Hadn't seen my mate Andy Carpenter play in a band since he parted company with the FAB, so to the Jolly porter it was then.
So good to see you back behind a mic where you belong, great set list, great vocals, great harmonies, even with a couple of colds.
[i think you'd cover the Cars "Just What I Needed" and XTC's "Senses" superbly].
With a lack of "quality" cover bands around at present, you're just what the local music scene needs.
All you have to do now is include some of the old OUTFIT classics and you can do no wrong, you know you have some top tunes in your back catalogue Andy, don't keep it all to yourself mate, they need to be heard again by a new generation of music lovers, do us all a favour and give us an OUTFIT set for old times sake, you know you want to.
Reply - Jimmy, thanks for this. I'll "nag" Andy about Outfit tracks.
It was great to see a lot of new faces, so the fan club is growing.
Thanks for coming down the JP on such a bad night for weather, also thanks for allowing for the voices ... I was really suffering that night having been ill all week.
I'll let Andy add some comments, but thanks...
Cheers Jim it was great to see you again and thanks for the compliments.Yeah i'd like to do some Outfit tunes,so watch this space .Cheers Andy

| Date: 28th July, 2008 | Author: Will Macklin | Subject: I have An Album By 'The Unknowns' | Message: Walking the dog was done by Rufus Thomas first, not the Rolling Stones just thought you should fix that...
And I love the music choices for your gigs, pretty sweet...
Reply - Hi Will, we had a message from 'G' last week who said he played for a band called 'The Unknowns' in the 80's, so are you talking about the same band?
Thanks for the feedback, I have updated the track list with Rufus Thomas, although our version is nearer the Rolling Stones version ... so I have left both names.
And thanks for the feedback on the music choices, we are all too 'long in the tooth' now to be pretentious, so we just play the stuff we and the audience love. It all goes down very well.
Four voices helps as well, it makes a great change when we swap lead vocalist leaving three voices for backing. Two 'brilliant' guitarists helps as well! ;-)
May be see you at a gig sometime ... but then I have no idea of where you live.
Thanks anyway

| Date: 09th March, 2008 | Author: Doug Barnes | Subject: The Unknowns | Message: The Unknowns performed at Withycombe Rugby Club on 16th February 2008. The were quite simply superb. They put on two sets before and after dinner and judged the mood of the people present brilliantly. The dance floor was throbbing all night. I will definately book them again in the future, if you do so you will not be disappointed. They did it with a smile and could not do enough to please. Thank you John, Andy, Ray and especially Graham.
Reply - It was a pleasure Doug.
It was also an honour to play for your charity. We get asked a lot of times to play for charity events, and we cannot do all of them.
We decided in the end to support a single charity each year ... you were the lucky ones this year!
Glad to be of service ... our playing that night was fairly insignificant to what you guys do. Well done and thanks.

Reply - Well it's been 5 years since I played in a regular band and last Saturday was a really great evening. I was afraid I had lost it when Andy and the boys asked me to play with them, but it's all starting to come back. See you at the Coaver Club on the 19th. Thanks for the support.
I also want to take this chance to thank Pete from Dunkeswell. He repairs amps and I got his name from Mansons. He rebuilt my old Fender Deluxe and it is awesome. He knew every trick in the book to strip it back and rebuild it to a late 60's spec. It has never played so well ... even when it was new. A really, really big thanks Pete.
And I suppose Mansons cannot go without a mention. When we discovered that Fender do not make a 'leftie' Clapton Stratocaster ... the boys down there built me one. They're such a great shopful of guys ... evey last one of them. Thanks Mansons!

We loved the numbers by the Jam. Awsome...

Reply - Thanks Pete, it was the last night for Jimmy who played a great night and I joined from that night onwards, but only knew the second set. We have had a few private party's since then and the band seems to be getting tighter as we re-learn all the stuff.
See you at the Village soon I hope… keep a check on the gig calendar for more gigs around Exeter

| Date: 07th August, 2007 | Author: A fan | Subject: See this band! The Village Inn, Exeter on Sat 28th Jul 07 | Message: This band is brilliant! After a leisurely start, having a bit of banter and playing songs designed I think to get everyone listening while having a pint and chilling out, they let rip in the long (not long enough) second set with some well rehearsed, very well played classics ranging from Clapton, Stones and Beatles through to some fantastic unknown songs from (I learnt later) Robert Cray and the Boss.
All four members of the band did their share of vocals and it has to be said all had great voices, but for me the guitar player, Graham was the best for my ears with a rough bluesy edge to go with his very own style of playing. Being a bandy myself I sat and had a good chat and a pint or three with the guys after the gig and learnt that all four had spent time in other good bands before joining up together. Having seen and heard them play it's pretty obvious to anyone that all these guys are more than competent on their instruments and I hate to admit it but any one of these musicians would walk straight into my band!
To anyone out there who wants to be fully entertained and hear some top class music go see this band! To anyone who books music for any kind of venue book this band and tell the world you have them on! A music fan, Tue 7th Aug 07
Reply - Thanks, we really enjoyed that evening. Lots more to come!

The Village Inn, Exeter on Sat 26th May | Message: We knew this band were good from the grapevine, but we didn't know just how good they were. They started with a few well-known Beatles covers just to get everyone going and the tempo just went up from there. By the end of an extremely lengthy second set and many encores later, the crowd was totally won over! Even the bar staff were out dancing! I couldn't believe how little the band have played together. They were as polished and professional as any bands I've ever seen. We've had so much positive feedback from those that were here, that we can't wait to get them back again. they are amazing - I kid you not. PLEASE go and see this band. Heather, Thu 31st May 2007
